It is with great pleasure, honour and humility that I accept and appreciate your welcoming me into your fold as the new President of the Republic of South Africa. This is in addition to the many messages of congratulations that I have received since my assumption of the position of President of the Republic of South Africa.

President Zuma arrives in Libya

President Jacob Zuma arrived in Sirte, Libya this morning (29 June 2009) to attend the 21st Summit of NEPAD Heads of State and Government Implementation Committee (HSGIC) tomorrow and will lead the South African government delegation at the 13th Ordinary Session of the African Union Summit (AU) on 1-3 July. The theme of the summit is “Investing in Agriculture for Economic Growth and Food Security”.

The Presidency and its Chief Operations Officer Trevor Fowler have decided to part ways by mutual consent. Trevor Fowler joined the Presidency as Chief Operations Officer in 2004. His main responsibilities included overall management and day to day running of the office.

Upon his arrival in Sirte, Libya, South African President Jacob Zuma accompanied by Deputy Minister of Public Service and Administration Roy Padayachie and Minister of Water and Environmental Affairs Ms Buyelwa Sonjica, is scheduled to participate in both NEPAD and the African Peer Review Mechanism (APR Forum) meetings scheduled for 30th June 2009.
