The Presidency did inform Parliament on the employment of troops

The Presidency wishes to point out that President Jacob Zuma did in fact inform Parliament of his decision to authorise the employment of 400 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel to the Central African Republic (CAR), and therefore did not violate the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.

President Jacob Zuma employs South African National Defence Force personnel for service in the Central African Republic

President Jacob Zuma has authorised the employment of 400 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel to the Central African Republic (CAR), to render support in fulfilment of an international obligation of the Republic of South Africa towards the CAR. The employment is for the period of 02 January 2013 - 31 March 2018.

President Zuma congratulates the Matriculation Class of 2012

President Jacob Zuma wishes to congratulate all the Matriculation Class of 2012 for their outstanding achievements this year, raising the national pass rate from last year's 72% to 73.9%, according to the National Senior Certificate results announced by the Basic Education Department this morning.
