The body of Minister Padayachie arrives home

The body of the late Minister of Public Service and Administration, Mr Roy Padayachie arrived in South Africa today. Minister Padayachie’s body was handed over to his family and loved ones after it arrived in Durban from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. 

The body was received by the family accompanied by the Minister of Labour, Ms Mildred Olifant and representatives of the provincial government, representing President Jacob Zuma and Cabinet.

This morning, 5 May, President Zuma telephoned Mrs Sally Mudaly Padayachie and personally conveyed his deepest condolences. He assured the family of government support during this difficult time.
 
Minister Collins Chabane, the Chairperson of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on State Funerals will release further details of the burial as they become available after consulting the family.

Minister Padayachie was attending the African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) meeting of the Select Committee of Focal Points in Ethiopia.
