President Zuma extends condolences to families of the victims of the accident in Vereeniging

02 August 2012

President Jacob Zuma has learnt with great sadness of an accident in which a mini bus collided head on with a truck this morning in Vereeniging, south of Gauteng. The accident claimed the lives of 12 people and left one injured.

“On behalf of Government and the people of South Africa we extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased. We are indeed saddened by this tragic loss of these lives and our thoughts are with the bereaved families. One cannot stress enough the importance of all road users especially those transporting passengers to be vigilant when using the roads, and to ensure that their vehicles are roadworthy,” said President Zuma.

President Zuma further appealed to all road users to obey the road rules at all times.
