Minister Trevor Manuel, MP was elected as one of the three co-chairs of the Transitional Committee for the design of the Green Climate Fund in Mexico City last night. The Transitional Committee was established after the Cancun meeting of the Congress of the Parties (COP16) to fulfil three tasks: designing the governance arrangements of a Green Climate Fund, mobilising resources for this fund and setting out the modalities of spending these resources.29 April 2011

The National Planning Commission (NPC) is chaired by the Minister in The Presidency for National Planning, Minister Manuel. The President tasked the Commission with developing a draft long term Vision Statement and Strategic National Plan 2025 for South Africa.28 March 2011
NPC press release on Low Carbon Growth seminar
On 28 February and 1 March 2011, the National Planning Commission hosted a dialogue on how to transition to a low carbon economy. This event, one of the first such events held by the Planning Commission, was held at Liliesleaf in Rivonia, Johannesburg. 2010 South African Development Indicators show both progress and ongoing challenges
The Minister in the Presidency: National Planning Commission, Trevor A Manuel MP, has announced the annual release of the Development Indicators for South Africa. The Development indicators are a product of a variety of official statistics, government data and research by various institutions. The indicators are clustered into about ten themes including economic growth and transformation, employment, poverty, inequality, household and community assets, health, education, social cohesion, safety and security, international relations and good governance.14 December 2010
